Noisy Outlaws… by McSweeney’s

If you aren’t familiar with McSweeney’s then you are in for a treat. The title of this book is actually much longer and goes something like this: Noisy Outlaws, Unfriendly Blobs, and Some Other Things . . .: That Aren’t as Scary, Maybe, Depending on How You Feel About Lost Lands, Stray Cellphones, … So Maybe You Could Help Us Out. To be perfectly honest, the title is longer than a couple of the short stories in this collection. But don’t let that stop you from reading it. You may not appreciate the quirkiness of the title or the stories but YOU KNOW your kids will. All the “big guns” make an appearance in this book. And your reluctant reader will feel like a true insider to have this in her/his clutches. Come and take a look.

Dave Eggers, one of the "big guns" behind McSweeney's, is also heavily involved in student literacy initiatives. Follow this link to his Ted Talks talk. I just HAVE to visit that Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co., some day!
