Discover NPR Songs

This month we are happy to begin carrying the new display of CDs featured on NPR. Each month we will be getting a new group of CDs. But you have to act quickly. We will only have these in the store for a month at a time, making way for a new group. Here’s the list available for the month of June.

Audra Mae: Audre Mae is the great-grandniece of the late Judy Garland. Her grandmother turned her on to artists like Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and Woody Guthrie while her grandfather introduced her to jazz.
Beth Nielsen Chapman: Back To Love contains 11 studding new compositions that bring this acclaimed singer/songwriter full circle, back to the soul-deep songwriting style that made her famous and provided hits for herself and other artists.
Bettye LaVette: Betty LaVette brings the British Invasion home to its American R&B roots on Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook. This album is a journey through the compositions by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, among others.
Court Yard Hounds: Founding members of the Dixie Chicks, Martie Maguire and Emily Robinson form Court Yard Hounds, a new group that reflects their experience as working mothers, sisters, songwriters and musicians.
Carole King and James Taylor: In November 2007, James Taylor, Carole King and members of their renowned original band The Section (Danny Kortchmar, Leland Sklar and Russell Kunkel) returned to the Troubador for a three-night run to celebrate the venue’s 50th anniversary.
Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim: For the first time all the Sinatra/Jobim Reprise recordings are together in one package. Tracks 1-10 comprise “one of the most rewarding albums of the 60s” -All Music Guide. Tracks 12-18: first time available in 20 years.
