In the ongoing process of culling my bookshelves I stumbled upon a little book that got lost four years ago and resurfaced yesterday AFTER I sent out the Rumi poem. What do you make of that? The book is called Chasing Rumi: A Fable About Finding the Heart’s True Desire by Roger Housden.

“Don’t go back to sleep” keeps repeating in my brain. This book sucked me in. I was primed for this moment. I read it in one sitting and feel like I want to go right back to it. The text is spare, the story is simple, the imagery is timeless. Some of us are searching and don’t really know what we seek. This just might be the parable for a lost generation. For now, I just need to let it seep down into my bones. I’ll get back to you later.
I’ve been a fan of Roger Housden’s poetry collections, they are great gift ideas and contain wonderful selections of important poerty for our times. Try any of these:
